Walks
This Bastide village, the first of its kind in the Agenais, has its ramparts built into the chalk cliffs surrounding it. There are 2 circuits to try (" Yellow " signposts - An optional route can be followed from signpost "2" to signpost "4"): 12 km circuit: 3 hours or 2 loops 9 km circuit: 1hour 15 min - 5 km: 1 hour 15 min
Leave from the arcaded square. Take the main street eastwards to the battlement walkway. 1- Follow this walkway to the south of the Bastide and go down to the tourist lake. 2- Walk round the lake and climb up to "La Boissière" (view point). 3- At the next bend, turn left next to a hedge, and go north eastwards towards a dovecote. Walk back some 250m in the direction of Puymirol. 4- Walk in the direction of "Chastelet" and follow the earth track right towards the north east which goes to "Barrère". 5- Cross the D.248, and take the tiny road across the plateau leading to "Couderc". 6- Go to "Sablé", 192 m above sea level, and then go down to "Talet" (view point) and then to "Maure" (dovecote). 7- Turn right and continue down to the church of Fraysse. 8- Follow the valley road, in a westerly direction, towards Puymirol, and then take a path at the foot of the cliff face which comes out on the D.274 at "Sauliè". 9- Continue as far as the crossroads between the D 274 and the D 16, to "Bruget". Take the D 16 for 250 m and climb back to the Bastide of Puymirol up a very steep path. Riding. At Puymirol you can explore the surrounding area on horseback. There are a number of different routes; it just depends on what you feel you can do. None of them are particularly challenging and can also be tackled on a mountain bike or on foot if you feel you have the energy.
Swimming pool. Lovers of swimming and water sports can enjoy a supervised swimming pool on the Rue des amours, overlooking the Puymirol ramparts, from 15 June to 15 September. This delightful and refreshing spot will appeal to young and old alike all summer long. Puymirol lake. At the foot of the Bastide there is a magnificent lake, just the place to go for walks and somewhere where you can picnic on its tables and benches in the shade of its huge trees, catch splendid carp (fishing does not require a permit), and the children can play on the swings and roundabouts that are laid out for them around the lake. Free parking area close by.
Tennis Courts.
There are 3 tennis courts at the west entrance to Puymirol, overlooking the lake. For non-residents there are several ways to book the courts; either by the hour (€ 10), by the week (€ 40), by the fortnight (€ 60); these options will give you the same rights to use the courts as the residents.
Petanque. To the east of the Bastide, at Le Foirail, there are 3 petanque courts which are available for the enjoyment of both locals and holidaymakers free* of charge (*except during competitions or training sessions of the Puymirol Petanque Club)

MUSEUM OF THE ABBEY OF SAINT MAURIN This museum Is devoted to the everyday life of villagers at the beginning of the 20th century. The visitor can relive this period of time through getting to know the trades and the family life of the peasants. THE VALLONS DE MARENNES FARM This is an entertaining and educational 22 hectare area with: ornamental animals, an arboretum, an enclosure for heritage poultry breeds, picnic areas and places to relax in lush green countryside. Visit and sale of produce.

LASTOURNELLE CAVES Visit natural caves still in the process of formation with an ancient underground river stretching for 300 m and 7 rooms. FRONTIROU CAVES These caves started to be formed some 30 million years ago. There are 7 rooms, rock formations of all kinds and shades, a magical, life-enhancing visit whoever you are and whatever the weather.
